The Vice President, Media Strategy is responsible for setting and executing Shake Shack’s end-to-end media strategy to drive guest traffic, brand strength, and long-term growth. As a key leader within an emerging restaurant brand, this role requires both strategic vision and hands-on execution. This leader will evolve Shake Shack’s media approach into a modern, full-funnel engine that fuels traffic to company-owned domestic Shacks while also creating scalable frameworks to support licensed and international markets. The VP, Media Strategy will directly shape media planning, investment decisions, and in-market execution, ensuring media is a powerful driver of guest demand, brand relevance, and commercial performance. 

Job Responsibilities and Duties 

  • Lead Media Transformation: Drive the evolution from performance-only marketing to a full-funnel media strategy that balances brand-building and demand generation. 

  • Strategic Planning: Develop integrated media plans across paid, owned, and earned channels, ensuring alignment with business objectives and brand positioning. 

  • Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a small team of media professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, creativity, and accountability. 

  • Agency Management: Oversee media agency relationships, ensuring best-in-class planning, buying, and optimization. 

  • Modern Media Expertise: Stay ahead of trends in digital, social, programmatic, CTV, and emerging platforms; ensure Shake Shack leverages cutting-edge tools and tactics. 

  • Measurement & Analytics: Establish robust measurement frameworks to evaluate media effectiveness, optimize performance, and inform future investments. 

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Brand, Creative, Digital, and Operations teams to ensure media strategies amplify creative ideas and business priorities. 

  • Budget Stewardship: Manage significant media budgets with rigor and transparency, driving efficiency and impact. 

Related Experience 

  • 10+ years of experience in media strategy, planning, and execution within QSR, retail, hospitality, or consumer brands 

  • Proven track record of using media to drive measurable traffic and sales performance 

  • Experience operating in high-growth or emerging organizations where leaders are both strategic and hands-on 

 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities 

  • Deep understanding of media’s role in driving guest traffic and commercial performance 

  • Strong command of full-funnel media strategy, including performance, brand, and local media approaches 

  • Ability to translate strategy into executable plans and guide teams through implementation 

  • Analytical mindset with strong fluency in media measurement, attribution, and optimization 

  • Confident decision-maker who thrives in fast-paced, evolving environments 

  • Strong communicator with the ability to influence cross-functional partners and external agencies 

  • Thrives in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment with a high premium on creativity, collaboration, and accountability. 

 

Education or Certificate Details 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or a related field

  • Master’s Degree preferred

Pay Range - $204,581.25 - $274,018.75
